3-Day Gorilla Trekking Mist and Batwa Experience

Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Kampala. You will embark on a scenic drive through the picturesque landscapes of southwestern Uganda, passing through rolling hills, lush plantations, and local villages. En route, stop for lunch in Mbarara before continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival, check into Buhoma Lodge, which offers comfortable accommodation and stunning views of the forest. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Today is the highlight of your safari – gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers. You will be divided into small groups and assigned a specific gorilla family to track. Accompanied by experienced guides, you will trek through the dense forest, navigating steep and sometimes muddy trails. The trek can take from a few hours to most of the day, depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once you find them, spend an hour observing and photographing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. This close encounter is both awe-inspiring and humbling. After the trek, return to Buhoma Lodge to rest and reflect on your incredible experience.

After breakfast, visit a nearby Batwa community to learn about the traditional lifestyle and culture of the Batwa people, the original inhabitants of the forest. Enjoy engaging stories, music, and dances, gaining insights into their unique way of life. After the visit, begin your journey back to Kampala, stopping for lunch along the way.
