Overview
This 5-day trek takes you through the scenic landscapes of Mountain Elgon, culminating in the summit of Wagagai Peak. The journey includes lush forests, waterfalls, and high-altitude ecosystems, offering a diverse trekking experience.
Tour Plan
Start your trek from Kamorok Falls View Lodge after an early breakfast. Hike through the initial forested areas, enjoying the beautiful scenery and diverse flora and fauna. Overnight at Tutum Cave Camp.
After breakfast, continue your ascent, passing through montane and bamboo forests. The trek offers opportunities to spot various bird species and perhaps some wildlife. Reach Kajeri Camp for an overnight stay.
Spend the day at Kajeri Camp to acclimatize to the altitude. This rest day helps prepare for the upcoming summit attempt. Engage in short walks around the camp area or relax and enjoy the surrounding views.
After an early breakfast, begin the challenging ascent to Wagagai Peak. Pass by Jackson Pool and traverse the Caldera Ridge, reaching the summit at 4321 meters. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the top before descending back to the camp for an overnight stay. Overnight at Mude Cave Camp.
After breakfast, pack your gear and begin your descent. Follow the trail through Sasa River Camp, passing through various ecological zones as you make your way out of the park. Conclude your trek and prepare for transfer to your next destination.
