Tour Plan
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our guide who will transfer you to your hotel. After a brief rest, embark on a city tour of Kigali, one of Africa’s cleanest and most vibrant cities. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history and the 1994 genocide. Next, explore the Inema Arts Center, where you can see contemporary Rwandan art and meet local artists. Continue to the local markets, where you can shop for traditional crafts and souvenirs. Dinner and overnight stay at Kigali Serena Hotel or a similar accommodation.
After breakfast, depart for Nyanza, the historical seat of the Rwandan monarchy. Visit the King’s Palace Museum, a reconstruction of the traditional royal palace. Learn about the ancient kingdom, the royal rituals, and the traditional way of life. The palace also features the Inyambo (sacred cows) with their impressive horns and a beautiful traditional thatched hut. After the tour, enjoy a traditional Rwandan lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Huye (Butare), the intellectual and cultural heart of Rwanda, and visit the Ethnographic Museum, which houses one of Africa’s finest ethnographic collections. Dinner and overnight stay at Mater Boni Consilii Hotel or a similar accommodation.
After breakfast, explore more of Huye, including a visit to the National University of Rwanda and its botanical gardens. Then, travel to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you can engage with the local community and learn about Rwandan traditions. Participate in traditional dances, drumming, and learn about traditional medicine and cooking. This immersive experience provides a deep understanding of the cultural heritage of the Rwandan people. Dinner and overnight stay at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel or a similar accommodation.
Start your day with a visit to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund Museum, dedicated to the famous primatologist and her work with mountain gorillas. Then, take a guided nature walk in the Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Although this walk does not include gorilla trekking, it offers a chance to see other wildlife, birds, and the stunning landscape. After the walk, return to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for last-minute shopping or relaxation before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
This 4-day tour is perfect for those interested in exploring Rwanda's rich cultural heritage, providing a comprehensive and immersive experience of the country's history, traditions, and vibrant communities.
