Tour Plan
Begin your adventure with a transfer from your hotel in Kasese to Mihunga Park Gate. Start the trek with a hike through the tropical montane forest, arriving at Nyabitaba Hut after approximately 5-6 hours. Overnight at Nyabitaba Hut.
Continue your trek through bamboo and heather zones, crossing the Kurt Shafer Bridge before ascending to John Matte Camp. This segment takes about 6-7 hours. Overnight at John Matte Camp.
Hike through the challenging and boggy terrain of the Bigo Bog and the Upper Bigo Bog before reaching Bujuku Camp, nestled beside Lake Bujuku. This day involves approximately 5-6 hours of trekking. Overnight at Bujuku Camp.
Ascend through alpine zones, passing the scenic Bujuku Valley, and continue to Elena Camp, located near the glacier. This day takes about 4-5 hours. Overnight at Elena Camp.
Start early for the final ascent to Margherita Peak, the highest point of Mount Stanley. After reaching the summit, descend to Kitandara Camp for an overnight stay. The total trekking time for this challenging day is about 10-12 hours. Overnight at Kitandara Camp.
Descend through the lush landscapes of the Kitandara Lakes region, crossing the Freshfield Pass before reaching Guy Yeoman Camp. This day involves about 5-6 hours of trekking. Overnight at Guy Yeoman Camp.
Continue descending through the bamboo and montane forests, passing by Nyabitaba Hut before reaching Mihunga Gate. This final day of trekking takes approximately 6-7 hours. Upon arrival at the gate, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Kasese.
